Lupelin Brewing Co.
In 2018, Lupulin Brewing Company, located across the Mighty Mississippi in Big Lake, MN, made the Brewers Association’s inaugural list of the “50 Fastest Growing Breweries” in the United States. Ranked at #29, Lupulin brews year-round beers including Belgian Blonde ale, the hop-heavy, double IPA Blissful Ignorance, and Hooey, an American IPA that’s billed as a “super hoppy, hazy concoction of the juiciest hops available. A beer that put Lupulin on the map among the nation’s beer aficionados is a seasonal beer called Dortmunder. The beer won a gold medal at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival in the German-style Oktoberfest division - beating out about 40 other beers entered in the division.
The brewery, founded in 2015 by Jeff Zierdt and Matt Schiller also includes Jeff Zierdt’s son, Aaron, as head brewer. In 2018, an aggressive expansion program began that included the purchase of a 30-BBL / 3-Vessel Sprinkman Brewing System that will be supported by a new line of 30-barrel fermenters and a new canning line. The new Sprinkman brewhouse will allow Lupelin to meet the demand for its main beers, while the original 10-BBL system will allow Lupelin to make small batch and seasonal brews. Sprinkman plans to be there for Lupelin in any way possible as they continue to expand their operations. Growth that will no doubt be fueled by great beer!
