Lifeway Kefir

Lifeway Foods of Morton Grove, IL purchased the former Golden Guernsey fluid milk plant in Waukesha, WI the plant and immediately began plans to renovate the facility to produce a different dairy product – kefir. So what exactly is kefir? It is a cultured dairy product loaded with healthy bacteria or probiotics. Your intestinal tract is your largest immune system fighting organ, making it one powerful force for our health and the fight against illness. With over 400 species of bacteria living inside our intestines, it is very important that we keep the levels of good and bad bacteria in balance. Lifeway goes as far as to call kefir “the grandfather of probiotics”.

W.M. Sprinkman was brought in by Lifeway Foods to convert their processing lines from fluid milk production to drinkable and frozen kefir production. We designed and built automated equipment to handle the mixing and blending of the products. Techniques and equipment that surpassed the capabilities of Lifeway’s other, older kefir production facilities.
